Prisoners of the rule of law (Guantanamo Appeals Court verdict)

Erwin Chemerinsky is a professor of law and political science at Duke University and co-counsel for Salem Gherebi, a detainee at Guantanamo. He is appalled at the recent Appeals Court ruling denying the detainees habeas corpus and access to civilian courts. Review of the case by the US Supreme Court is inevitable, and should be scheduled on an expedited basis so that another year does not pass with the detainees held in a prison that has drawn worldwide anger. Ultimately, the current administration is behaving as though no law whatsoever governs their conduct at Guantanamo, and lawless government cannot be permitted to exist in a country based on the rule of law…BS
