Tom Bingham – a truly great Briton. Article by Peter Oborne in Daily Telegraph
Tom Bingham was the British law lord, who stood up for human rights and the rule of law unflinchingly under huge pressure from politicians, police and spymasters in the wake of 9/11. His life should be an inspiration to those of us in both the US and the UK who are worried about the erosion of human rights, the justification of preemptive wars and the use of torture which those who would rule over try to justify.
