IMPORTANT – Jane Hamsher and Glenn Greenwald Take on Wired Magazine and Adrian Lamo (the Hacker/Mental Patient Guy Who Dropped Dime on Bradley Manning)

The Feds are trying to use Lamo’s unreliable memory of his alleged chats with Manning to get Assange on an espionage charge — so Glenn and Jane (god bless them) are going after Lamo and his buds at Wired magazine who are refusing to release the full chat logs — at issue is Lamo’s changing story as he makes the rounds in various media to tell his odd tale of engaging Manning in online chats, which strangely began (in one dubious Lamo tale) after Manning randomly found him by googling “Wikileaks” — now that the Feds are going after Assange via Lamo, all gloves are off — Glenn has a (MUST READ) post entitled “Wired’s refusal to release or comment on the Manning chat logs” about Wired’s role in all this — Jane posted “Citizen Journalism and the Lamo-Manning Chat Logs” (another MUST READ) about Wired editor Evan Hansen defending himself by changing the subject and attacking Greenwald w/out directly addressing any of Glenn’s criticisms — Jane also compiled all the published chat logs between Lamo and Manning as well as transcripts from every Lamo media interview (w/help from an all-volunteer FDL-reader transcriber contingent) — so basically a whole lot of stuff to read and familiarize yourself with on an unfolding and fascinating/disturbing story – mab
