The McGovern landslide

Last weekend marked George McGovern’s 85th birthday, and a crowd of important politicos attended, most of them from today’s version of the Democratic Party. The striking fact is that most of them worked for McGovern during his 1972 presidential campaign, which ended with the decisive re-election of Richard Nixon. Nevertheless, that campaign trained and inspired many of today’s Democratic Party leaders, committed like McGovern himself to peace, social justice and openness within the party, including ethnic minorities and women…BS
