Super column by Robert Kuttner (co-editor of “The American Prospect” and a regular contributor to the Boston Globe) on the recent split between the Senate Armed Services Committee (led by McCain et al, with a letter of support from Colin Powell) and the Accursed Admnistration (Cheney, his puppet Bush and the unseen Cabal) on the issue of torturing enemy combatants. This one is Very Juicy, because it tells the story of Kuttner’s own father, an American soldier and a Jew, captured by the Germans in World War II. He survived imprisonment in a Nazi POW camp, largely because even the Nazis respected the Geneva Conventions. So let’s see now…that makes the twisted neocons who have captured our government worse than the Nazis, right? Alas (and it pains my American Hippie heart to say it) – yes…BS
