    Re Paladino, most people are not aware that, of the total number of registered Republicans in NYS, only 2% voted in the primary – statewide. This means that the 70/30 vote that has been seen as some sort of “mandate” for Paladino is not exactly as it appears, since it is clear that most Republicans, particularly moderate ones, are not willing to vote for him. As well, Lazio remains on the Conservative line, so the GOP vote may well be split, giving Cuomo more breathing room. In any event, despite the free-floating angst out there, and that fact that Paladino has gained a couple of points in the polls, I do not think this is another “Scott Brown” situation.
