A short and to the point summery of the present position. I think what has become clear, even to Iraq’s neighbours is that we all DO want to get out, but we DON’T want to leave anarchy and sectarian violence in our wake.
This is not what the far left or the far right promote or want to hear, but it is the only reasonable reaction, having first found ourselves in this unenviable position.
At this time, when there is at least some hope of eventually being able to extricate ourselves from this mess, it is worth thinking back on what got us there in the first place – WMD’s. There has to be some accountability for that ‘intelligence gathering’ and nothing would do America’s (and the UK’s) standing in the world more good than to see that pursued.
I would want to see all Presidential Candidates commit to that. The American people have been led into a war on misinformation, and the source of that misinformation should suffer the consequences in front of a global audience.
