Syria, Libya – the scorpion gets in amongst the good guys again. Fisk.
Fisk is so right..our governments support dictatorships for years then abruptly help to topple them or in the case of Afghanistan created Bin Laden to oust the USSR and then we expect the new regimes to be nice guys and eternally grateful when in fact they are not much better than their predecessors. Meanwhile the scorpion – what remains of AL Qaeda – cashes in. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose. History repeats itself, we never seem to learn. The Tragic Sense of Life.

How true, how sad. We never learn. And our governments do not advise the public what is going on until ‘the fat is in the fire’
