    All judges, but particularly SCOTUS, should be jurists first, “human beings” second, and political animals a distant third. Sadly, many justices (and it may not only be the right-wingers) seem to be people first, political animals second, and jurists a distant third. However, the blame for this is only partially on the jurists themselves; it also lies with those who appoint them – all too often with ideology, not jurisprudence, as the primary reason for doing so. Sad. Very sad.
