    Re the merger of the White House Homeland Security Council into the National Security Council, the “advantage” here is that those on the former will have access to critical info that would not be available to them otherwise. And this is (not surprisingly) how it is being “sold.”

    However, if you give this idea even a little bit of serious thought, it is unnerving that “homeland security” (which arguably should not even exist per se) is increasingly becoming a “subdivision” of “national security” – which can blur the line between what is permitted domestically and what is not. And with Obama not having yet reversed the Military Commissions Act to restore posse comitatus to its original status, this concern becomes even more real.
