    The writer says that any “religious left” is bound to be smaller than the “religious right.” However, that is not entirely correct.

    Only 37% of faith-based people who voted in the 2004 presidential election identified themselves with the religious right. This means that the religious left – and, perhaps as importantly, the religious center – makes up a FAR greater percentage of faith-based voters.

    In this regard, Democrats can do worse than to “court” (as opposed to pandering to) the religious left and center.
