NYT: Merger Would End Satellite Radio’s Rivalry

Yet more agglomeration in the media industry. And I predict that not only will the planned merger of two of the remaining five record companies go through, but that there will be another one by year’s end – leaving the world with three major record companies. Consider that only 20 years ago – in 1987 – there were 30 MAJOR record labels. By 1992, there were 14. By 2000, there were seven. Now there are five, soon to be four.

Where is the outrage?
