In response to your many responses to my Republican “Realityâ€
The Baker-led ISG simply could have said 6 words which would have been more concise and to the point: “The Administration fucked up Iraq, royally.”
Almost on a daily basis we hear of Iraqis being blown up, tortured, murdered. Electricity and running water on for 3-4 hours only. Going out for food or gasoline could mean your demise. Praying in a mosque could be your end. Not knowing if your children would ever come home alive from school is a daily torment for every parent. And as to which group is doing what to the other group matters not. Our government created this mess.
If you think that I bear some responsibility for a failed war in Iraq, merely because I am a citizen of this country, you might be excused for thinking so. But I don’t see it that way. This administration infiltrated politics with religion. They even infiltrated the military with religion. And you know what happens then. You believe you can kill in god’s name – with god’s blessing. In this, we became like the radical Islamists themselves.
I did not fuck up Iraq. We did not fuck up Iraq. Our lying, corrupt, religiously-led government fucked up Iraq. They and the right wing religious fanatics who gave them encouragement. They wanted to manufacture Armageddon to hasten their lord’s return and not be one of the ‘left behind.’
These guys at the top who dreamed up this crusade to rearrange the world have no choice now but to keep going, maybe start another war in the hope something might turn out o.k. The flip side to that is too horrible (for them) to contemplate: being tried for war crimes sometime down the road.
This war will impact the U. S. for many years, if only from a financial point of view. And in this regard, the Chinese win. And they can finish us off whenever they want to sell their vast holdings of US$$.
This government will turn out to be one of the worst in our history, because the potential damage from their action is overwhelming. But they still have the military to fall back on. That’s the way forward for them. On the other hand there is a way we could hasten an end to hostilities. But it means we will have to talk to the people whose back yards we’ve fucked up.
