Tribal Naming Ritual?
My tribe has chosen a name and I would like to give my tribe a formal naming ritual. Any ideas? What have other tribes done in the past?

start with planets and zodiac signs .. the early tours were Mercury, Venus, Jupiter
maybe consult an astrologer (?)

Thank you for the ideas. We’re having the ceremony tomorrow night, and I will do what I can to get a shaman to attend. That would be wonderful. What’s the “extended tribe”? Is there someone who would be available in Sacramento tomorrow night???
Each tribe member is making a noisemaker to use in the opening ritual (similar to the Hindu Arati to Lakshmi), and I think we’ll use those for the ceremony too. I can’t give herbal assistance of the kind I think you mean, Michael! 🙂 But we can use other things. I’m also planning to have the tribe create a tribe altar to have backstage during the run. Everyone is bringing something to contribute to the altar and we’ll set it up tomorrow night.
I’d love to hear any other ideas!
