Shots of the original Be-in

(*had to come up with a provocative title)

Last night the Sundance Channel ran “The Drug Years”, a 3-hour documentary about drug use in America: fascinating and excellently made.

I appreciate the way it pointed up that much drug use was initially part of a wish for a religious or spiritual experience.

For the HAIR crowd, it has excellent coverage on the 60s era, including shots of the first “Be-In” in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

I watched all of these shows (there were four) as well and I thought they were pretty good… Not judging just stating the facts… 🙂

I am sure glad I did not live in Haight Asbury at that time the locals were afraid to go out after a while when the speed freeks came along, but in the beginning it was all peace and love.

Those photos of Central Park and “The Sheep Meadow” which was close to my home when I lived there sure made me nostalgic…. In fact most of the film did…:(

Just watched it myself tonight and loved it!! It’s a blast to take a trip down Memory Lane! Time has a weird way of distorting things sometimes if ya know what I mean.

    PEACE,
