Sad, sad news: Leo Lunser passes

Very sad news in the Hair world today. Those of you who were at our reunions, or were on the old Hair list will remember Leo Lunser who not only directed Hair wonderfully three times, but who embodied and lived the spirit of Hair. We will all miss his spirit of love and Tribe, and I know he is floating around somewhere with Jerry Ragni, singing Let the Sunshine In.

For those near Maine, here is the info on his memorial I got in just now:

” Leo’s Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 7th at 4PM at Carll Heald Black Funeral Home, Springvale, ME. Bring a copy of a favorite picture of Leo. Don’t even think of wearing a suit!

We are also working on another annual Hair reunion which is a 3 day thing during the summer. During this we will be spreading Leo’s ashes over the field where we did Hair in 2003. I will keep you updated on the details of this event.”

Michael is so right Leo was HAiR. At the reunion (was it Mass or Conn?) I spent some time sitting with them (he and his woman) and after on the way to my motel they helped me find it.

Peace Leo I will miss you and our emails.

Such sad news to discover upon my return to Michael’s HAiR Blog following my extended absence from it and my HAiR Cyber Tribe family. Leo and I became buddies first via the original online HAiR List, nurtured by meetings in the flesh at HAiR reunions (Barbara, it was the Conn. reunion). I will cherish the memory of the kind, truly HAiR-spirited character I met in my bro’ Leo! RIP. — SibleyJ2, aka Tioga Joe (Ouachita Tribe, HAiR NLU/ULM 1974)
