I am a card-carrying member of the A.C.L.U. But the more important question is Why would the republicans, have such a problem with the ACLU?

This is an organization whose sole purpose is to defend the Bill of Rights, so it naturally begs the question; why would you choose to reject upholding the Constitution?

Why? Because the conservatives want to interpret the Bill Of Rights as THEY see it-in the fantasy world they refer to as ‘personal freedoms’.

Conservatives are always complaining that the government is violating their individual rights.
The right to carry assault weapons for instance. What is that all about really. Even after one of their own shot Brady and they enacted the Brady Bill, which did absolutely nothing. Here was Brady wheeling around the corridors of the Capital in DC and everyone turned a blind eye. Hell, they shot their favorite make believe president; Ronny Ray-gun and still it didn’t matter.

There he was lying in the hospital and there they were lying to the Amerikan public that he was just fine and there we were lying in a knee deep puddle of shit while Nancy ran the country. Does anyone know how long the president of the United Stakes, the most powerful man on the planet had Alzheimer’s disease? They lied to you about that too.

Well, If you can answer that question, then, folks, you’re smarter than I am.

Look, Amerika isn’t easy. Amerika is advanced citizenship. Something conservatives have such a hard time understanding.

You gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say, “You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating, at the
top of his lungs, that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.

You want to claim this land as the land of the free, then the symbol of your country can’t just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest.” Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.

I’ve known and watched the republicans do their thing for 62 years of my life-since Ike .

I’ve been operating under the assumption that the reason republicans devote so much time and energy to shouting at the rain was that they simply didn’t get it. Well, I was wrong. The republican’s problem isn’t that they don’t get it. Their problem is that they can’t sell it. (but they do sell it-obviously- badly-but they are selling it to an uneducated, uninformed, myopic massive following)
