“…It was fascinating to me, amidst the familiar ritual of the Mass, to see the panoply of humanity there on display in St. Abbondio’s: young children fidgeting and their parents trying to keep them still; old people struggling to stand or sit; teenagers whispering secrets; and a young man with Down syndrome going around and happily shaking 20 or 30 hands during the sign of peace, while the rest of us turned self-consciously to our neighbor and offered only the briefest of greetings….”…BS
