Response to News of OBL Death

So the “official story” starts falling apart in only 24 hours, as it is revealed that OBL was unarmed. We are asked to believe that trained Navy SEALs, after a firefight on the first floor, enter the second floor where no one has a weapon, are able to shoot one of OBL’s wives in the leg when she steps in front of him, but could not take OBL alive. This is the story your government wants you to believe. (Assuming, as I noted, that any of this is true; i.e., that OBL has not been dead for some time.)

Here is my comment on the Hedges thread on TruthDig:

“That didn’t take long! The ‘official story’ starts to unravel in less than 24 hours! But, of course, the dissembling, obfuscation and spin continue. And the sheeple accept whatever their government tells them, and just keep working, consuming, and buying into whatever propaganda they are being sold. Good little sheeple. Take your meds. Don’t worry, be happy. Big Brother is watching over you, and the big bad wolf is dead. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

A response to my comment:

“Taking dictation of the propaganda stories from government spokesmen is the basis for journalist’s hard hitting reporting of the facts. As the truth is finally discovered, it is too late to change the myth. Mission Accomplished. We care so little for the truth as long as we get placated and feel good about ourselves, or at least the stuff we have.”

Another comment:

“He was unarmed. There were no guards. The ISI knew nothing about the house occupants. Shot instead of captured. No photos to be released. Buried at sea. Did I miss anything?”

Here are the first two paragraphs of Maureen Dowd’s Op-Ed today:

“No wonder the president’s top generals call him ‘a Cool Hand Luke.’ After giving the order for members of a Navy Seals team to execute a fantastically daring plan to, let’s be honest, execute Osama bin Laden, Barack Obama put on a tuxedo and gave a comedy speech Saturday night in a Washington ballroom of tippling journalists and Hollywood stars. If we could have seen everything unfolding in real time, it would have had the same dramatic effect as the intercutting in the president’s favorite movie, ‘The Godfather,’ when Michael Corleone calmly acts as godfather at his nephew’s baptism at church, even as his lieutenants carry out the gory hits he has ordered on rival mobsters. Just substitute ‘Leave the copter, take the corpse’ for ‘Leave the gun, take the cannoli.'”

Quite amazing and on-target. Sadly, however, what she takes from this is the opposite of what should be taken; i.e., instead of seeing it for the gangsterism is it, she lauds it (which is why I did not post her column.)

Finally, if you can stand it, here is the most sickening letter I have ever read in the NYT:

“We must learn the lessons of the killing of Osama bin Laden. The information that led to it was obtained from harsh C.I.A. interrogations in foreign prisons and from detainees at Guantanamo Bay, followed by electronic surveillance and wiretapping. Finally the United States undertook a totally unilateral military action in a foreign nation without prior notification of that nation. In other words, everything that is anathema to the left. And the result is not that we have become the enemy or lost our moral bearings. The result is justice for the thousands of innocent dead of 9/11 and previous attacks, and a safer, freer world. So, we can cling to outdated political dogma, or we can serve justice and protect innocent lives. President Obama wisely chose the second course.”

Pardon me while I throw up.

Peace.
