The purchase of T-Mobile by AT&T comes close to completing the agglomeration of the telecomm industry.  Just as the record industry went from 34 major labels in 1985 to just five today, and the publishing industry went from over 30 major imprints in the early 1980s to just five today – and other industries, including energy (oil, etc.) and media (print/TV/radio) have also agglomerated into just a handful of companies (and the individuals who own/run them…) – there will likely be just two telecomm companies in the near future, since Sprint is almost certain to be bought by Verizon at some point.  How scary…and sad.
