David Halberstam: the best and the brightest of war reporters

David Halberstam, who covered the Vietnam War for the New York Times and who was among the first to denounce the lies and hypocrisy behind that disastrous war of choice died yesterday. His friend and fellow Vietnam War correspondent H. D. S. Greenway reviews his brilliant work, his strong convictions and his deep love of country. It reminds me of the Jefferson quote: “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism”…BS
