NYT: Congress Is Expected to Revisit Sentencing Laws

And it’s about time! Even the conservative judges are annoyed at mandatory sentencing – and not because they would like to give harsher sentences. Along with New Jersey’s move to eliminate the death penalty – and the hopeful precedent that would set -this could be the beginning of a whole new era of judicial fairness and restraint.
