This is an impassioned piece about brutality. Political analyst James Carroll compares the disgraceful act of tribal revenge implicit in the way Saddam Hussein was executed to George W Bush’s history of presiding over 152 executions with zero acts of clemency while he was Governor of Texas. America is now in the mdst of a national disgrace, presided over by an “executioner in chief”.
