Major General (Ret) Wesley Clark, former Presidential candidate and former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, is now a fellow at UCLA’s Burkle Center for International Relations. This is a man who truly understands what military force can and cannot do. He thinks that the underlying problems in Iraq are political, not military. A ‘surge’ of a few tens of thousands of troops will serve only to ‘stay the course’ still onger, and encourage the insurgents…BS
