It will surprise no one who reads the MB-CIVIC Blog that The Decider is a flagrant, in-your-face liar and hypocrite. That is not what this piece is about. It is about the way the nice words from the last Inaugural speech about spreading democracy around the world have crumbled, and it illuminates the case of oil-rich Azerbijan, ruled by Ilham Aliyeva with a cruel iron hand and full American support. It reminds me of the original name for what the Pentagon now calls ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’. It was originally called ‘Operation Iraqi Liberty’, which abbreviates to the word “OIL”. Arrrgh!…BS
