Waging Non-Violence: Michael Jackson’s Gandhi connection

My friend Bryan Farrell posted this over at the Waging Non-Violence blog .. On a side note, I’d forgotten how political MJ’s “Man in the Mirror” video was .. OK, tinfoil hat time: The video came out in 1988 and soon after came the questionable accusations of child abuse from people with histories of extorting money from people .. Reagan was president and given the history of Republican presidents harassing high profile artists who speak out – um, Nixon/John Lennon – its not that big a leap to say that some members of the “Chamber of Commerce” or as Chomsky would say, “Virtual Senate”, thought MJ was getting too uppity. MJ was at the height of his fame and he puts out a very political video, flexing his activist muscles. Remember these are people who had (and have) no problem supporting death squads in Latin America .. And also remember that Martin Luther King was assassinated a year after he started to criticize US imperialism .. all i’m saying is its not a big leap – mab .. read more
