    While this is certainly not funny, what is FAR more concerning is that lake and river waters are showing increased levels of pharmaceutical and psychotropic drugs, which do NOT get filtered out as water goes into reservoirs. This means our drinking water is being contaminated with stuff that can be truly dangerous.

    As for plastics, if you think the Great Lakes are being damaged, take a look at what’s happening in the Pacific Ocean – a garbage patch that is a minimum of 270,000 square miles, and may even be as large as the continental U.S.!
