Again, Presidents, etc From Tom Sawyer

Hi, Michael:

Re: your two most recent posts about Nixon, Vietnam, and the MICC — and your comment thereon: “What I will never understand is why Johnson followed his advisors. Why did he not expose Nixon?”: I should not need to remind you that the last President who went against the MICC got himself assassinated for doing so.

Attached, to refresh your memory, is a copy of what turned out to be the final nail — Executive Order #263, plus the Memo to which it refers. He had already crossed one line with his decision to prevent the invasion of Cuba; he and his brother crossed others, but Vietnam was definitely the deal-breaker.

While Nixon was contemptible, and LBJ, in signing the Civil Rights stuff, and Medicare, was essentially a Good Guy, it is obvious to me that they, and every President since, very clearly got the message that was delivered on Nov. 22, 1963. It also explains why Obama has kept us in Afghanistan.

The third attachment is one of my faves: Richard Dudman’s account of spotting the bullet-hole in the windshield of JFK’s limo — a fact that became buried along with so many other truths about that day, beneath what became the accepted, pre-programmed bullshit about Oswald being the gunman.

Sadly, America is in its final descent. We were fortunate enough to enjoy the best of it…
