More in the way of reading chicken entrails

Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity through a series of divine Messengers, whose teachings guide and educate us and provide the basis for the advancement of human society. These Messengers have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad. Their religions come from the same Source and are in essence successive chapters of one religion from God.

Bahá’u’lláh, the latest of these Messengers, brought new spiritual and social teachings for our time. His essential message is of unity. He taught the oneness of God, the oneness of the human family, and the oneness of religion.

Bahá’u’lláh said, “The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens,” and that, as foretold in all the sacred scriptures of the past, now is the time for humanity to live in unity.

The Bahá’í Faith

just another one designed to separate us

Yes, religion CAN separate us. But it NEED not. Indeed, as I have pointed out before, ANY ideology – religious, political, economic, cultural, etc. – CAN separate us. Yet I do not hear you making a similar clarion call for the end of all competing political, economic, cultural or other ideologies.

In my opinion, your myopic focus on religion does not help support your cause, but, instead, undermines it. Religion is not, and has never been, the “be-all and end-all” of what “separates” us as human beings. And, indeed, the commonalities among the various faiths (with respect to the overwhelming majority of believers who practice their faith privately and quietly) – love, peace, compassion, community, etc. – are virtues that all humankind can benefit from.

    Peace.

I am not concerned with political, economic or cultural differences. These are all too obvious and easily exposed and thus I dismiss.
If you believe in god and the supporting of that deity by religious conviction that
Your “Exceptional claims demand exceptional evidence” Prove it or shut up.
I have a serious problem with the so called do’gooders-the ones who hold themselves up on a moral and/or religious pedestal. Promoted and supported by religion, those are the ones I am after-(get it? I am very clear here-I AM AFTER these people and I am after anyone who supports and uses what I believe to be hokus pokus nonsense to manipulate and opiate under the excuse of ‘faith’). Faith what I can see, is the surrender of the mind; it’s the surrender of reason. It’s our need to believe, and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated
Religious organization harbors, supports and encourages the hypocritical and damaging behaviors of self servicing and/or frightened individuals. Organized religion is used like a weapon, very effectively against the uneducated masses. It uses fear and intimidation. It threatens hell and eternal damnation and people buy it. It seems to me that we keep being sold that religion, whatever its imperfections, at least instills morality. On every side, there seems to be a great deal of evidence that the contrary is the case and that ‘faith’ tends to cause people to be more mean, more selfish, and perhaps above all, more stupid
On the other hand I have no problem with anyone who is spiritual-quiet-non-interfering.
Look, you can believe anything you want to believe if it makes you feel better-just don’t try to sell it to me. And historically and continually that is what organized religion does.
It is part of the basic tenant of christianity-The idea of saving souls and ministering and evangelizing, of spreading the word or being a warrior for christ, to being a missionary (god forbid).

Oh Lord, Save Me From Your Followers!

“Of all the systems of religion that ever were invented, there is none more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifying to man, more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory in itself than this thing called Christianity. Too absurd for belief, too impossible to convince, and too inconsistent for practice, it renders the heart torpid or produces only atheists or fanatics. As an engine of power, it serves the purpose of despotism, and as a means of wealth, the avarice of priests, but so far as respects the good of man in general it leads to nothing here or hereafter.” Thomas Paine

Glad that we are arguing again-I missed it
