Posturing over China ignores economic realities – Jim O’Neill (FT)
The factory workers worried about their jobs and the poor let down by the US’s economic policies of the past 10 years are supposed to be able to be fobbed off by focusing them on a foreign bogeyman rather than the real culprits. It would be crazy to rattle China’s cage publicly over the exchange rate at the moment and piss off the leadership just as the Chinese consumers are starting to flex their muscles and the US exporters are becoming seriously competitive.
