This is arguably one of the most frightening developments re the intersection of media and religion that has occurred in our lifetimes. Even forgetting (and we shouldn’t!) that the airwaves are a public trust, it is shocking that the FCC is not investigating this.
Posted on 09-Jan-10 at 10:41 am | PermalinkThanks Ian – I agree (which is why I posted the piece) – it’s racist, it’s xenophobic and it violates the constitutional separation of church and state in what was previously a government regulated public trust. We can “thank” the Reagan administration for beginning the process of GUTTING the FCC, removing requirements for public service programs and content guidelines, and “thank” the Bush administration for finishing the job. Obama has a long list of jobs left, but I think restoring FCC controls and reviving the equally-abused FDA should be priorities.
