Gillian Tett (FT), who wrote this article is always good. What she has to say about Bourdieu’s theory on how elites manage to stay in power applies not only to the financial elite, about whom she is writing here but also, as it happens, to the political elites, which continue to manage/control discussion in our democracies. The health care debate in the US springs to mind. She will be continuing with this series of articles and I will endeavour to post them all.
