Derrick Jensen: Forget Shorter Showers .. Why Personal Change Does Not Equal Political Change
Jensen has an interesting, somewhat pessimistic, piece in Orion magazine .. he thinks there’s no possible way to get to a sustainable economy under the current industrial model .. he writes, “We can follow the example of those who remembered that the role of an activist is not to navigate systems of oppressive power with as much integrity as possible, but rather to confront and take down those systems” .. not sure i agree wholehearted .. i see a 60/40 socialist/capitalist model (when now its more like 20/80) where certain efficient mechanisms of capitalism are integrated into a sustainable model .. in any case, lots of food for thought here – mab .. read more
