    What astonishes me is that it comes across as if this was the first time a fall in redintial property prices has happened on this scale.
    Have a look at the early eighties.
    Just because the property is worth less at a given point in time doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t make the payments that you contracted to make.
    Certainly, you can look at bailing out those who have fallen on hard times, but I doubt if that is going to have much impact on the overall situation.
