“Line of the night. Barack Obama, speaking for the alienated, left out, and forgotten, said, “We are who we have been waiting for.” He’s always worth staying up late to hear.”
Actually, Obama lifted this line from Rev. Jim Wallis’ book, “God’s Politics,” which is where it first appeared. Rev. Wallis, in turn, was quoting a young woman who was a community organizer.
Are you also aware that Obama has been lifting some of his lines from…episodes of The West Wing? I kid you not. There is a list available somewhere which shows the original lines (including the dates of the episodes) and the lines in Obama’s speeches. And it is not a hoax or a coincidence.
