Shame the doubters were all so quiet about Iraq when it might have made a difference.
I don’t have much time for all these safely retired generals and functionaries who now tell us of the deep misgivings they had about the Iraq war from the beginning. Where the hell were they when it mattered? If they – i.e Colin Powell, Jeremy Greenstock, Gen. Cross, Gen. Jackson etc had all resigned rather than continue to implement a policy they now say they knew was doomed from the beginning they might have given the wretched Bush and Blair some pause for thought and at least they would have the personal satisfaction today of knowing that they at least do not have the blood of blameless Iraqis and and US/UK servicemen and women on their hands. Shame on them.
The attached article by Mary Dejevsky in todays Indie makes this point well.
