Ignatius, formerly a writer for the Wall Street Journal, chronicles the decline of a previously edgy and exciting paper and America’s first national newspaper. Many of the problems there have been self-inflicted. For those at least, Rupert Murdoch is blameless. Ignatius predicts that Murdoch’s detractors will claim that he ‘killed’ the paper no matter what he does, but the sad truth is that the Wall Street Journal’s quality has been dying slowly for a long time…BS
