A journalist’s dangerous mission

Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink has long been campaigning in his columns for official government recognition of the Armenian Genocide committed by the crumbling Ottoman Empire in 1915. Dink was murdered yesterday – although the word “assassinated” seems more fitting for such a political killing. A profile in one man’s courage at a point in Turkey’s long, bloody journey toward true democracy, a goal not yet achieved (the anti-Kurd death squads of the 1990’s come to mind as just one example)…BS

What a courageous man he was…. He wouldn’t have wanted to go any other way though, telling the truth and fighting for a cause.
