From my brother…(a neat read)
My older brother – a long-time activist – sent me the following e-mail. I just thought it was worth passing along.
“In case anyone you know is tempted to say that this is just another day in politics, here are some reasons to doubt that. Aside from the fact that Democrats and Independents are now a majority of both houses of Congress, state governorships, and state legislatures, the new Congress will be a horse of a different color:
-Congressional Black Caucus member Charles Rangel will chair the House Ways and Means Committee
-Congressional Black Caucus member John Conyers will chair the House Judiciary Committee
-Congressional Black Caucus member Bennie G. Thompson will chair the House Homeland Security Committee
-Both Senators from Hawaii will be committee chairs: Akaka (Veteran’s Affairs), and Inouye (Commerce)
-Barney Frank, the first openly gay MOC, will chair the House Financial Services Committee
-Nancy Pelosi will be the first woman in history to be Speaker of the House
-Jon Tester, an organic farmer from Montana, brought the Democratic-Independent tally to 50 in the new Senate.
-Bernie Sanders will be the first self-declared socialist in the Senate
-At least four other House committees (Rules, Intelligence, Small Business, House Administration) will be chaired by women
Members of the Senate who voted against the Iraq War Resolution and will now chair Senate committees include: Paul Sarbanes, Ted Kennedy, Patrick Leahy and the above-mentioned Senators from Hawaii. (John Kerry will chair the Senate Small Business Committee. He did not vote against the Iraq War Resolution. At least he apologized, unlike another potential Presidential candidate who I voted for while holding my nose.)
Daniel Ortega is the new President of Nicaragua. Donald Rumsfeld resigned. One up, one down.
It is arguably the best day since August 8, 1974.”

Believe It! Yea!!!!
I mostly interested in Ortega’s fighter mentality and the U.S.A support for the other (wrong) side and many years later, about 16 years of harsh living…Ortega wins on a promise.
The Dems here, are saying this will be the most ethical administration this COuntry has ever seen.
I believe them because behind the ethics are many investigations, indictments soon to follow – those that wronged the American people MUST be brought to Justice.
Yes, it is arguably the best day since Al Gore, and John Kerry were handed their heads.
