NYT Op-Ed (Tierney): Shopping for a Nobel

http://select.nytimes.com/2006/10/17/opinion/17tierney.html?pagewanted=print

Oy! Tierney posits that no one – no individual or organization – is “doing more to alleviate third world poverty than”….Wal-Mart! Sadly, his position forces him to give short shrift to sweatshops, and even “support” them since “even [sweatshops] paying $2 per day provide enough to lift a worker above the poverty level…”

And this claim comes fast on the heels of his most recent Op-Ed in which he argues that overpopulation does not contribute to the hunger crisis!!
