Democrats Answer Cheney
By E. J. Dionne | Tuesday, September 12, 2006 | The Washington Post

This piece starts with Dick Cheney’s stomach-wrenching performance on Meet The Press three days ago, when he condemned “the kind of debate that we’ve had in the United States. Suggestions, for example, that we should withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq, simply feed into that whole notion, validates the strategy of the terrorists.” Right: any criticism of the Administration amounts to treason.
Then Dionne goes on to touch on some of the better ideas floating around the Democratic party for alternatives…that is, in an encouraging trend, the Democrats have begun to function the way a good opposition party must: by offering well-crafted, appealing, constructive alternatives rather than throwing mud back at the party in power. An optimistic piece about the unfocused, dis-united, down-trodden Democrats? Yup. And well worth reading…BS
