NYT: Cheney’s Power No Longer Goes Unquestioned

In a reversal of the famous line from The Wizard of Oz, we can now say “Pay attention to the man behind the curtain.” Indeed, the curtain has been ripped down and we are now vindicated in our belief that VP Cheney has been “pulling the strings” for George Bush. “I believe in a strong, robust executive authority,” says Cheney. Except that the actual authority invested in the VP’s position is limited, and Cheney has exceeded those limits exponentially.
