Have One Leg, Will Terrorize

From AP:
U.S.-led coalition forces captured a one-legged militant fighter in a battle this week in southern Afghanistan, and he possibly could be a top Taliban leader, an Afghan general said Friday…. Neither the U.S.-led coalition nor the Afghan government in Kabul said they could immediately confirm that Dadullah had been captured.
Hmmm … one leg, one leg, one leg … why does that ring a bell? Oh, yeah …:
Kurdish groups claimed that Zarqawi had not died in the missile strike, but had been severely injured, and went to Baghdad in 2002 to have his leg amputated. On October 7, 2002, the day before Congress voted to give President Bush permission to invade Iraq, Bush gave a speech in Cincinnati, Ohio that repeated this claim as fact…In 2004, Newsweek reported that some “senior U.S. military officials in Baghdad” had come to believe that he still had his original legs… It is believed that a common CIA tactic is to portray an enemy as physically weak or incapacitated so as to reduce his popularity among the masses. [Emphasis added.]
From today’s report on the captured one-legged terrorist, we also have this:
A senior Afghan government official said “we’re pretty sure” Dadullah was in custody, though officials had not confirmed his identity. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter publicly, said “a couple of other big fish” may have been caught, but he gave no further details.
How much you want to bet those other “big fish” only have one fin?
And if these people we are fighting are all maimed and lame and too stupid to use a machine gun correctly, why are they proving impossible to capture? What does that say about our capacity for top-notch military strategy?
