Just wanted to say how much Hebe and I loved being with you all at the Magic Castle and at the Cucucuevez Tribe's production of HAiR! at Santa Ana College. Thank you Michael for organizing such a wonderful gathering - it was really great to meet Charles, Sharmagne, Sherwin, Linda, et al in the flesh ands see you, Bo, and Dawn again. What a warm and wonderful group of people!

And a special thank you to Charles Preston for inviting us into the Magic Castle and then giving us a sampling of his own personal magical talents (Prestondigitation??). I especially enjoy seeing novel illusions, and you provided a great one that I had never seen before. Your "Magic Switchboard" has occupied my thoughts for many days thereafter.

The Cucucuevez Tribe was truly a "tribe" and demonstrated that they "understood" HAiR. The production featured some very good voices, backed up by an excellent orchestra, and delivered a reasonably good, though somewhat "politically correct" show despite having to overcome a rather uninspired, and sometimes downright annoying, lighting design and screen projections.

Charles Preston added a very welcome touch of anarchy to the show when he donned his newly-designed (digital led) light jacket and "streaked' the auditorium. Excellent touch, Charles!

Thanks again, Michael and Charles, for this magical weekend. Being with both of you and the other HAiR alumni made the show especially special, and, when we protested the war at the Los Angeles Peace March and Rally the following week, we carried with us the inspiration of HAiR.

As a final note: The production had some edits and underplays (e.g.: The word "tribadism" was substituted for "pederasty" in "Sodomy," the nude scene was deleted, etc. all probably because the production was staged "behind the orange curtain" in traditionally very conservative Orange County, California. It should be noted, however, that the "Orange County Register," the newspaper of record for the area, apparently is the first paper in our country to editorially call for us getting out of Iraq immediately! Bravo!

Blessed be with peace, love, freedom, and joy!

John
