THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I have never felt so welcomed on a listserve before.

I was born in the Philippines (but I'm Irish/Italian/Polish by birth, Asian
at heart) at the end of the Vietnam war. My mother was the only female
liason for the returning P.O.W.s and I believe she was also involved with
the baby lift operation. And in 1994 I wen to Saigon while on an
educational excange. I have never met a more beautiful people, nor was I
prepared for my own reaction (especially after going to Cu Chi and then the
Saigon War Crimes museum- which is the most honest depiction of the war, and
most objective, I've ever seen).
Last year I worked on the Kerry campaign and when a local conservative group
held a showing of the negative Kerry documentary, my parents and I went to
be the voice of dissent. My father (also a veteran) was basically shouted
down, they wouldn't let me (or any women) speak, and the veterans for peace
who were there were not even allowed to finish talking because they were
booed. I couln't stop crying when it was over. I felt like I was in Poland
and the year was 1939. It was terrifying. No one would listen.
but it's so not simple! A dear friend of ours was a P.O.W. in Laos for FIVE
YEARS and he hates Kerry and war protesters (doesn't like Bush though). I
feel like we are being pulled apart again~
but since it's not new, my generation is way too apathetic and complacent

I think the hardest part is going to be letting go. I know I can't single
handedly change the world, but I certainly do believe we will all be changed
by this project. Thank you so much for letting me have a safe place to
speak.

I've included my first press release~ I haven't sent it out yet.
And I did have a question:
If we are going to donate any profit to the Western North Carolina Coalition
for Peace, would Tams-Whitmark give us a deal, or would Equity let my friend
who is an actor in NYC come down for free?

THANK YOU!
PEACE!

Love,
Katie K.

ALOHA NUI LOA!
