A Response to "Hair, Now and In Chicago?"

In the course of producing and presenting two editions of "HAIR-In Concert" here in Seattle, I discovered just how relevant the message of HAIR is for audiences of the 1990's. Both concerts generated a lot of excitement and played to sold-out houses of every age, color and sexual orientation. Both concerts generated that "magic" spirit of HAIR, which is nothing less than love. We proved that "harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust abounding" are not trite truisms of 30 years ago, but qualities that our hearts and souls yearn for, never more than now. Our casts were primarily performers in their late teens and twenties, who were born long after the last Human Be-In and long after the civil rights movement and Vietnam had faded from the headlines. Because these young people were able to tap the power of HAIR, because they "got it" and were transformed by it, is reason enough to continue producing and promoting HAIR in every format. Kudos to you and your team on this 28th anniversary.

Yours in Peace,

Walter Michael Harris
