CHICAGO WEB AUTHORS DONATE SITE FOR DEMOCRATIC FORUM

Chicago-based web authors Imaginary Landscape, the team that brought Michael Butler's Orlok Productions and HAIR '96 to the Internet (and the Athenaeum lobby,) have developed a special web site for the Democratic Convention week as their contribution to the healing process and the free and open discussion of political issues:

The web site will open on Sunday, August 25th 1996 as part of the "Day of Healing" event that begins with a concert and presentation at noon at the Arie Crown Theater, and continues with a performance of Michael Butler's HAIR at 7:00 pm.

SPEAK YOUR MIND AND VOTE EARLY, VOTE OFTEN

Visitors to the web site may vote as often as they like for their favorite presidential candidate, read insider's views by Charles Kaiser (author of 1968 in America,) Michael Butler, Sen. Tom Hayden and others, or join the interactive HyperNews discussion of current political topics. Even those who are Internet-shy may participate via the comments form provided at various protest sites throughout convention week.

The web site will serve as a forum for regular people who feel left out of the democratic process, or think that the mass media ignore their point of view. The interactive HyperNews forum allows visitors to start their own topics of discussion or post their comments on the day's events. Imaginary Landscape will add new features and content throughout convention week, including the thoughts and feelings inspired by the "Day of Healing" festival. After the election, the site will be permanently archived as a historical document of the event.
