Print: » The progressive case against Obama » Print – Salon.com
Heavy duty. As a progressive I feel betrayed by Obama in all the writer mentions, and then some. I often wonder if the elites set up a 'manchurian candidate' to force us to vote Obama, as the opposition is worse. Either ways we are fucked. I am going to vote against Romney because he represents the nadir of democratic government-not for Obama.Posted by Michael Butler, Saturday, October 27, 2012

If President Assad Falls in Syria – NYTimes.com
In no uncertain terms there will be a blood bath which will probably engulf the Middle East. We should damn Bush/Cheney and the entire crew. They have stirred up a hornets nest. Going back our imperial policy has been/still is wrong. mbPosted by Michael Butler, Thursday, August 9, 2012

America Beyond Capitalism: An “Evolutionary Reconstruction” of the System Is Necessary and Possible
I am certain that most of us recognize that their will have to be some changes made in the system by which the Earth is managed. The Earth and us, its denizens, cannot continue to survive in the current program. Socially, economically and environmentally we will have to change. Hopfully these changes can be made easily-not violently. mbPosted by Michael Butler, Sunday, July 15, 2012
Truthdig – Beyond the Politics of the Big Lie
If I was in the position to call all the shots two items would be top on my list: campaign finance and education. A quick short term change and a long term fix. OK, money out of politics. Longer let us undertake to educate the populace so they can understand by their own reasoning what is best for them. Then they may keep the republic they created. This article, published before in Civic, is a great exposition of the importance of education. mbPosted by Michael Butler, Tuesday, July 3, 2012
The Almost Scoop on Nixon’s Treason
Nixon was worse than a 'crook'. This is the story as what he did to obtain the Presidency. His actions delaying the end of the Vietnam War cost years, thousand of our dead-many more of theirs. Its long term costs to our spirit, treasure and the fields of Vietnam is incalculable. Treason the highest damage it makes Watergate look puny be comparison. What I will never understand is the reasoning of Lyndon Johnson's advisers for him not to accuse Nixon? Look how Nixon won. mbPosted by Michael Butler, Tuesday, June 19, 2012
The Price of Inequality and the Myth of Opportunity | Common Dreams | Joseph Stiglitz
Another great writing by Joseph Stiglitz. A cautionary tale which the 1% must regard with serious thought. History has taught us that finally will come the spark to ignite the rise of the 99%. mbPosted by Michael Butler, Monday, June 11, 2012
FOCUS: The 1 Percent’s Problem – Joseph Stiglitz
ANOTHER MUST READ. Again, Stiglitz is expounding his brilliant theories. Again, this piece appeared in Vanity Fair, that most unlikely of publications. However its brilliant editor, Graydon Carter, can be counted on to supply frequently excellent pieces. Besides, in every issue I look for his personal page, well worth the read. I wish to bring to your personal attention this articles fourth paragraph, particularly its end. For my rich friends I again warn that we moving towards a violent solution which will emerge unless there is some surcease to the current downward pressure on the 99% of Americans. The Civil War was the bloodiest in history. Florida still celebrates the birthday of Jefferson Davis. Palm Beach, where I grew up, better beware. michaelPosted by Michael Butler, Saturday, June 2, 2012
