Echoes of the End of the Raj – NYTimes.com

An echo which reverberates constantly in the message it gives to Americans. Oh, would that this history be taken seriously. Such happenings were not the first nor will they be the last. mb

U.S. to Pay $1 Billion Settlement to Indian Tribes – NYTimes.com

This is a pittance of what is involved in all the outstanding lawsuits. We just are facing what the BIA mismanaged or what was stolen. No mention as the centuries of genocide committed against the Native Americans by immigrants to America. BIA was the job I wanted if I had gone to the JFK White House. mb

LBJ’s ‘X’ File on Nixon’s ‘Treason’ | Consortiumnews

You probably will find it difficult to believe that such dirty tricks really existed. Well they did. Nixon was a past master at such. His presidency was the beginning of America's downward spiral. Power corrupts. You see what can be done to achieve power. What I will never understood is why Johnson followed his advisors? Why did he not expose Nixon? And my Mother used to say, "Why are so many after poor Mr. Nixon? If she, and her friends, only knew. mb

Christian Jihad

Very interesting study on the more violent aspects of Christian writings. Ample evidence of all possible interpretations which taken literally could permit almost any unspeakable acts of murder, mayhem and genocide. One must wonder how those ancients could have been so violent. Of course the numbers were a lot smaller. Combat was more personal. They did not have drones. mb

FOCUS: George Soros on the Coming US Class War

I know, most feel it cannot happen here. Many dismiss the warnings of someone who has been through such travail. Soros has had such experience. He is enough of a historian to be able to read the signs from the past. We are on the edge of a slippery slope. If activism leads to violence, the 1% control the enforcers. Progressives will lose due to the support of the uneducated of the Reds. Recall the extreme violence of the Civil War. mb

The Big Lie – Wall Street has destroyed the wonder that was America. – The Daily Beast

How can this be turned around? It seems as if all the forces are against us. All the arms of government are owned the forces of evil-of greed which have dominated our past, now present. They want to dominate our future. How can we prevent this without violence? That is the challenge. mb

EcoMind: Changing the Way We Think, to Create the World We Want

As we enter a new year, what do I think? I don't cotton to the Mayan calendar which gives us about 11 months. I know that we are in deep trouble. Difficult to even start to list all the heavy stuff coming down. For sure I know we have to make some changes. They are changes of great promise. Changes to make our world, all our worlds, a better place to live. I know a few things. First, we must stop being in the Business of War. War is Us. Second, we must stop over consuming our planet. We are going have nothing except a shell over all the extraction going on. Third, the world cannot continue to support the population growth. I know the corporations want more customers and the religious want more souls. How can such crowding of space and resources make us happy. I am happy because I believe in the here and now. But the majority of our world is not happy. That is why we need to change the way we think. mb
