A great Manifesto from Robert Jr. I do hope the next President takes it to heart. MB

"Forever Changes" was the title of a song very popular in he 60's. Some, including myself followed this as a mantra. Now we have 'Change' appearing as the keyword in the Obama campaign. So many other politicians have taken it up as their mantra that it has become the key word of this political contest for the Presidency.
It will be kept as the key to Obama's candidatecy.
We are all ready for a change knowing it is required to bring us out of the morass in which we are stuck. Since the Nixon regime we have been on a downward course. While the Republicans now suffer from the most criticism the Democrats have not been without blame.
Change is the answer. For us a 'Sea Change' is in order. MB

I have posted this article in MB CIVIC and now in Michael Butler’s Blog. I have done this as I feel I need to bring its contents to your attention.
Increasing are the problems face our country. They are not being addressed by many of our politicians. The candidates for the executive rarely even touch on the borders of the areas covered here. However these problems and the philosophy behind them are affecting our lives now. They will continue to influence the wellbeing of our children and grandchildren in a very negative way.
Unfortunately most of the political and media elite seem to feel that Americans are not interested nor capable of pursuing these problems. I don’t make the mistake of feeling that amongst our citizens there is a lack of interest nor comprehension. Corporate media have done a pretty good job of dumbing down the populace. Thanks for the Internet we have access to such writing.
This article is not just a sound bite. It is a bit longer. However it is well written and easy to read.
The Butler’s have been in American since the 1600’s whence they came from an AngloIrish background. Reading this made me wonder if it might be time to move on. If the current situation persists wonder may no longer be the operative term.

Here is an excellent description as to how the Bush/Cheney cabal have usurped the balance of power. Cheney more than anyone has led the rise of fascism in America. War making is the power of Congress while executing it is the job of the President. Too often Making war has really been the acts of the President with a compliant Congress. However in the current administration they have gone far beyond matters of war. What started under Nixon was augmented substantially by Reagan. Under Bush II stealth and secrecy have been carried to extremes. Transparency has become a lost word. What was put through by either Congress and not clearly desired by Bush II has subverted by signing statements which emasculated many of the acts of Congress. Corporate media went along with such betrayal of the common weal. Without independent media we would be still in the dark. Our founders must be turning in their graves. MB
