CREATION by Gore Vidal [Book Review]

My nephew, Patrick gave me this book. I have read many of Gore’s books and enjoyed them all. At this moment we are working on his MESSIAH to be made into a film. MESSIAH is about a religion which takes over the world. It is one of Gore’s early works.

CREATION is a long book. It is worth the effort. A novel of politics, war, philosophy and adventure. It covers Zoroaster, Xerxes and the great king Darius. He roams the world conversing with Buddha, Master Li about Tao and Confucius. In Athens, Cyrus Spitama, the storyteller meets with such Pericles and Socrates.
Cyrus pursues such questions as how we were created and why evil and good were brought about. Fascinating is the period of the story, the fifth century BC. You can only have respect for the background of the Middle East, Persia in particular. MB
